Širola’s new workplace is the Museum of Illusions in Zagreb, in the role of COO.
The Croatian branch of the Spanish online food (and, as they said, whatever wherever) delivery platform Glovo has been left without a director. Teo Širola, who has held the director role in Glovo since spring 2019, is going on a new adventure, which he announced on LinkedIn.
“I am incredibly proud of all the successes Glovo achieved on the Croatian market, the 40 + person team and platform we’ve built from scratch, our quick expansion to 20 + cities in the country.” wrote Širola.
He did not forget to thank the thousands of Glovo users, drivers (couriers) and partners whose efforts led to 800,000 downloads (one-fifth of all residents of the Republic of Croatia), a 500% increase in the number of food orders during the spring 2020 pandemic and a total of 9 million different items in 2.5 years.
According to Širola, the connection between Glovo and its clients, with suppliers as an important link, was not harmed by the ‘black swans’ – two lockdowns and an earthquake last year, and Širola’s last big achievement was to take over the first domestic delivery service – Pauza.hr – via Delivery Hero.
The position of general manager of Glovo Hrvatska is now vacant. According to the vacancy announcement, candidates for this role must, among other things, “be convincing in the most pleasant way possible, have no problems selling anything, have good judgment, but also admit your mistakes…”
Širola’s new role is at the Museum of Illusions in Zagreb, the site of the COO. “The Museum of Illusions, supported by a private equity fund, is in full swing with the aim of spreading around the world, which is a very challenging and exciting journey for me personally. I believe that my experience of rapidly expanding and scaling the business from Glovo will be useful in the upcoming expansion of the museum,” said Mr Širola in an interview with for Poslovni dnevnik.
